2024 BEAMO Mozdzer Danielsson Fresco Wrocław

Evening, stage, lights, music. All of it merged into one during my photographic journey to capture the concert of the Możdżer Danielsson Fresco Trio. I had the privilege of witnessing the premiere of their new album, BEAMO, which transports listeners into an entirely new dimension of musical emotions. I divided my photography session into three key parts, which I named Punch, Mood, and Harmony. Each was designed to capture a different aspect of this extraordinary event.

Punch – The Power of the First Note

It all began with the first chords. A moment when the audience was drawn into the world of Leszek Możdżer’s three pianos, each tuned differently: A=440 Hz, A=432 Hz, and a dodecaphonic tuning. Through my lens, I aimed to capture the energy of this breakthrough. The pulsating stage lights, synchronized with Zohar Fresco’s drumming, contrasted with Możdżer’s subtle gestures as his hands danced over the keys. The photos in this section are a play of intense colors, motion, and emotions. Each shot was meant to be like the first sound of the concert - bold, unique, and full of tension.

Mood – The Atmosphere of a Sonic Journey

The second part of my session focused on the fleeting nature of moments, on the space the trio created with their sounds. The new album contains everything that has made audiences love this trio: beautiful melodies, expansiveness, and refined restraint. However, this time, through tonal bending and the fusion of different tunings, the trio opened an entirely new chapter. The photographs capture the intimacy of this journey - Daniel Larsson’s closed eyes as if he were listening to the inner voice of his double bass, or the delicate movements of Zohar Fresco as he meticulously built rhythmic details. Warm lighting, soft transitions, and blurs gave the images an almost painterly quality.

Harmony – A New Dimension of Resonance

The final part, Harmony, represents the fusion of diverse tonalities into a cohesive whole. Lars Danielsson masterfully navigates between different soundscapes, while Fresco provides a powerful rhythmic foundation. I wanted to capture this remarkable synergy—where technique meets emotion. Here, the details were key: the bassist’s hands gliding over the strings, the subtle glances exchanged between musicians on stage, or Fresco’s drumsticks spinning in the air. The images aimed to express the mystery and intriguing character of the music—something that felt both new and deeply familiar.

Music Through the Lens

BEAMO is not just another step in the artistic journey of Możdżer Danielsson Fresco but a revolution in the perception of harmony and sound. In my photographs, I tried to convey this innovative spirit, not merely documenting the event but creating a visual narrative that resonates with the sonic magic of the trio. At this concert, I realized that sounds can paint pictures, and photographs can speak in music. I hope I managed to capture at least a fraction of the extraordinary energy that the trio shared with the audience. BEAMO is an album that must be heard, but I would also say, it deserves to be seen.
